Book Feature And GIVE-AWAY: RILEY MACK and the Other Known Troublemakers By Chris Grabenstein “Mischief Monday”

Happy “Mischief Monday” all!

If you notice the title of the blog today, I have a “Book FEATURE”  instead of a “Book REVIEW” Why? Because Mom didn’t have time to read this book to me!!!

Instead of doing a normal “REVIEW” I am going to give you information about the book: RILEY MACK and the Other Known Troublemakers by Chris Grabenstein ( perfect for Mischief Monday!) that was sent to Mom and I by the publisher, HarperCollins, and we are going to give YOU a chance to win a copy!

From the publisher:

In this merry, mischievous romp, master storyteller Chris Grabenstein introduces Riley Mack-a twelve-year-old hometown hero with a talent for plotting schemes in the name of justice. Like an Ocean’s Eleven for tweens, this mystery-comedy features an uproarious cast of “known troublemakers” including aspiring actress Briana, tech wiz Jake, *vocab-obsessed lockpicker Jamal, and the large-but-sweet Mongo.

*FROM DAKOTA: “vocab-obsessed” Savannah and Jet they are talkin’ to YOU!! BOL!!!!

As Riley leads his gang through a series of capers that ultimately results in a foiled bank robbery and the rescue of fifty-seven adorable puppies, readers will enjoy the dramatic interplay of the characters and the unfolding of the mystery as well as the fast-paced action and humor.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Chris Grabenstein is the Agatha-and Anthony Award-winning author of the Haunted Mysteries series, including The Crossroads, The Hanging Hill, and The Smoky Corridor. He’s also the author of the adult titles Tilt a Whirl, Mad Mouse, and Whack a Mole. Chris lives in New York City with his wife, JJ, three cats, and a dog named Fred who starred on Broadway in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. You can visit Chris (and Fred) online at www.chrisgrabenstein.com

Zogoflex Tizzi

This toy is SUPER COOL! Mom apologizes that there are no photos of me playing with it…that is because Mom was sick and wasn’t able to take any, but trust me, my favorite thing to do with this toy is to have Mom put TREATS in it!

Here is some info about it from myfavoritepetshop.com:

“The Tizzi dog toy spirals through the air giving the time-honored game of fetch a dynamic new spin. It got its name because dog love it so much, they have a “Tizzi” when they play with it. Twist Tizzi’s handles together for maximum flight or untwist to hide dog treats inside. Whether you’re playing on land or in the water, this floatable dog toy is ready for takeoff! The perfect size for small breed dogs. Tizzi is made tough with an exclusive non-toxic material called Zogoflex. It’s super durable, extremely pliable (so it won’t hurt your dog’s teeth), and it’s made to last! This is one tough toy, recommended for aggressive chewers, pullers and fetchers. In fact, Tizzi is guaranteed against dog damage! “

My Name Is Gonna Be In The Book “Lost And Found” by Amy Shojai!!

Yep you read that right! Back in July my Mom entered my name, “Dakota” in a contest held by Amy Shojai.  Amy is super well-known in the cat world, for those of you who may not know her, here is some info about her:

Amy Shojai

From http://amyshojai.com

AMY’S BLOG: Bling, Bitches & Blood– is your virtual water cooler for all-things-pets,  bloody-good writing tips, and some serious sparkle-icity. The edu-tainment empowers dog and cat lovers, inspires writers, and dazzles readers with wit, wisdom, and shiny objects. (She cain’t hep it, she’s from Texas!)

Amy Shojai has been reinventing herself for years. She’s a certified animal behavior consultant, and the award-winning author of 24 best selling pet books that cover furry babies to old-fogies, first aid to natural healing, and behavior/training to Chicken Soup-icity. She is the Puppies Guide atpuppies.About.com, the cat behavior expert at cats.About.com, writes features for AOL’s PawNation.com and Huffington Post, and hosts a weekly half hour Internet Pet Peeves radio show. Amy has been featured as an expert in hundreds of print venues including The New York Times, Reader’s Digest, and Family Circle, as well as national radio and television networks such as CNN, Animal Planet’s DOGS 101 and CATS 101. She’s been a consultant to the pet products industry and a host/program consultant for select “furry”  TV projects. Amy  brings her unique pet-centric viewpoint to public appearances, writer conferences keynotes/seminars and thriller fiction (including pet “voice”).

What a pedigree, eh?

Anyway….back to the contest!

Amy held a contest asking readers to suggest names for the canines in her debut thriller:

click on the book cover to read all about Amy’s new book!

Here are the results from Amy’s blog post

NAME THAT PET CONTEST RESULTS

Thank you to everyone for your participation in the “Name That Dog” and “Name That Cat” contests to help me find the perfect choices for some of the furry characters in the book LOST AND FOUND.

More than 85 terrific cat and dog names were suggested. I narrowed the choices to about a dozen each, set up polls for you to vote, and we had over 800 votes result.

I’d say pet people are passionate about pet names! Without further delay, here are the results.

DOG HEROES NAMED

Caren Gittleman suggested the winning dog name Dakota because it means “trusted friend” and is also the name of her lovely Sheltie (who helps her co-write Dakota’s Den Blog).

In the book LOST AND FOUND, the main character September mourns the loss of her heart-dog (we’ve all been there right?) who died trying to save her husband. Therefore, her long lost canine partner DAKOTA is mentioned throughout the book.

How cool is THAT?

Is that MAJOR mischief or what?

Mom can’t wait to receive her copy of the book to read and review, so stay tuned!!

I was given ANOTHER Award!!

I woke up on Sunday morning to a wonderful surprise! I am the lucky recipient of the:

I was overcome with happiness because this award didn’t just come from anyone, no siree, it came from a KITTY and a SUPER SPECIAL KITTY at that!

This “lovely” award was given to me by:

Click on the photo to visit Katie’s blog!!

It is nice enough when you are a doggy and the award is given to you by a fellow canine, but when you can cross species and are given an award by a KITTY, well, then, that  just rocks my world!!

Part of the rules of this award are I am supposed to tell you 7 things about myself….I am probably repeating myself on some of these so if I have, I am sorry!

1) Katie TOTALLY helped me out by giving me this award because I was supposed to be doing a product review and give-away but the company never sent me the product to test!!  They forgot!! Hey ya snooze, ya lose!!

2) I am at the vet today for a follow-up urine test from my UTI that I had about two weeks ago. Please cross your paws that all goes well!

For the next few things about me I asked my Daddy. Mom usually helps me with these but I decided to have Daddy add his comments for a change!

This is one of Daddy’s sisters. Also known as my “Aunt Nancy” I go insane when she comes to visit. I show her TONS of affection!

3) He says I am extremely affectionate. I would have to agree. If I were a politician I would be kissing all the babies and women!

4) I’m sensitive.  I’m all about hearts and flowers. My sensitivity shines in my eyes. Don’t believe me? Here is what I posted last Valentine’s Day:

5) I eat anything and everything. I guess I wouldn’t make it on Hell’s Kitchen because I am not known for having a refined palate.I will eat anything from cell phones to wood. If it can be chewed, I’m all over it!

This was particularly delicious. The green color gave it a “Minty Fresh” taste. I was stopped from my fine dining experience before I could get to the delicious licorice flavored battery

I don’t understand why everyone was so upset that I did this! They tell you to eat enough fiber daily and then when you listen to them you get yelled at! Geeze!

6) I have a zillion toys, but what is my ultimate “go-to?” My mangy  red, white & blue ball that Mom purchased a few years ago at the Dollar Store!!

“Hooray for the red, white & blue!!!”

7) This is probably the best one yet. I have a real “thing” about “I Can’t Believe It’s not Butter”  Mom and Dad cannot figure it out. For some reason I can’t stand the bottle. Mom thinks it is hilarious to pull the spray bottle out of the fridge and just let me look at it. Dad says that’s mean. I would have to agree!  Looking at that bottle to me is the equivalent of making someone watch The Exorcist against their will!

Click on the logo to visit their website. I may not like looking at the stuff but Mom sure enjoys EATING it! Many others do too!

Just the SIGHT of it makes me go berserk

To read about this product, click on the photo and visit their website!

 See for yourself:

Another requirement of this award is that I pass it on to I forget how many other blogs. Ok, here’s the dirt, when I pass it on I  get in trouble, when I don’t I STILL get in trouble!!

My Mom and Cody did give some awards out recently, only to find out a number of people either :

had already received them.

don’t want awards because they are time-consuming.

or those that weren’t selected get their feelings hurt.

So, I am going to say that Mom and I  follow TONS of blogs and once again, if we follow you,  you are ALREADY AWARD-WORTHY! So, wrap your paws around this and enjoy!!! If you have a blog we know how hard it is to keep up with all that entails, so please accept this with love and gratitude!!!

Barks and licks and love, Dakota

In full disclosure: no bottles of “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter” were hurt in the filming of Dakota’s video. Nor did Mom and I receive a dime, a bone, or a bottle of their butter for mentioning them here. Why? Because no one reads this blog anyway, so they will never know! BOL!!

Did anyone bother checking with US?

Mischief Monday-Flat as a Pancake!

Hi everyone! I hope you had a great weekend!

My brother Cody and I have had discussions about being left when Mom goes to the BlogPaws 2012 conference. We didn’t like that kitties and doggies from all over the country (including my buddy Snoopy!!!) get to go to this spectacular conference and we can’t go!

What in the name of a bag o’ bones is wrong with THAT picture?

Cody and I  are the ones that work  til the wee (and I don’t mean peeing!) hours of the morning on our blogs!  All Mom does is type the info that we give her, she makes that appear as if it’s a big deal cause she likes to moan and groan about  all that she does,  but Cody and I know differently!

We didn’t earn the right to go on this trip?

Without Cody and I Mom would have  no blogs! If Mom had no blogs, she wouldn’t be going on a  trip to  BlogPaws which is only the best blogging conference on the Planet!

Somebody needs to be barked at… big time!

Cody and I  decided to take matters into our own paws and take a look at what we did!

We had ourselves turned into  PANCAKE PETS!!

Also known as Flat Pets!

Don’t we look realistic?

We’re pretty smart huh?

Now we can go to BlogPaws with Mom

and REALLY stir up some mischief!!!!

Ohhhh…we’re gonna have FUN!!!

Do YOU wanna stir up some mischief?

Ohhhh I know you wanna!

Visit Pancake Pets right here and you can go anywhere that your pawrents go!

Now if you will excuse me, I have to go and pack! I have a lot of toys, treats and Nutrish

to fit into my bag!

I  have eaten Nutrish for all of my five years,  and my Mom won’t let me go to BlogPaws? When there is Nutrish around, this Sheltie will NOT be denied!

This bag is wrinkled because I EAT this food and have been for the past FIVE years!

(By the way, Nutrish  is  a Silver Sponsor at BlogPaws…click on  Sponsors  to see the entire list of TONS of BlogPaws Sponsors! )

 Let the mischief begin!!

Watch out Salt Lake City, here we come!!!

Mischief Monday-Dinner!!!

Hi guys! Here is some “mischief” that goes on at our house EVERY DAY!!

My kitty brother, Cody, and I begin to “circle” my Dad beginning at about 3pm. Why? We are getting hungry! (We are “early bird special” diners in this house…chalk it up to having older-than-dirt pawrents!)

My Dad says this same thing every time he serves us dinner!

We apologize for the poor video quality, it was kinda dark in the room….

Watch closely at what my brother Cody does at the end!

Barks and licks and love, Dakota

Monday Mischief- Uh-Oh

Exhibit A

Just a normal basket of toys….right?

WRONG…

The toys are hiding an AWFUL secret

Does this face look like it would do….THIS????!!!!

IT DID!!

UH-OH!!

Mommy is very upset with me. YES. I did do this. Not in one day mind you, but over  time. It isn’t ALL my fault. I am not a bad doggy I swear.

I can’t control myself when the two doggies who live across the hall come out. They run straight for my door. I have to protect my territory. I am on 24-hr security and NEVER get a break!

I must protect our home from intruders of the canine persuasion.

I “get it” but Mom doesn’t.

She says soon our wall and door will be gone and all of my efforts will be for naught.

In the meantime, does anybody in Southeastern Michigan know of someone who can come and FIX OUR DOOR….preferably with metal?

Barks, “wood/paint chip licks” and love, Dakota….aka……..KILLER
