I Love My SmartBone! You Will Too! Give-Away!!

Hi Everyone!

Did you know that I am a “chewing machine?”

Oh yeah! If it’s chewable, (or not) I’m all over it!

This is the SmartBone that I had!

I’ve been known to chew wood, cell phones, metal door stops, you name it.  It’s not all my fault, I come from a long line of “chewers!”

Did you know that it is important for dogs to chew?

When doggies lived in the wild, they used to tear through the skin of wild beasts to get at the meat! We doggies that don’t have to hunt for our food don’t get to do that. It isn’t good for our teeth not to be able to chew things! We get a build up of tartar which can lead to periodontal issues and disease.

Some doggies chew out of boredom (like me!) These pet chews are the perfect answer to that problem! YAY! You gooo Mom! Mom also likes that SmartBones offer nutrition and health benefits as well!.

You have no idea how excited I was yesterday when my Mom gave me a brand new product to try!

Mom gave me a SmartBone!

Wow was I ever excited!

What is a SmartBone you ask? Well, sit back, relax and I’ll tell ya!

SmartBones by PetMatrix, are chew treats made with chicken, vegetables and other healthy ingredients. These raw-hide free treats are perfect for the four-t0-five out of 10 consumers who prefer not to feed their doggies rawhide.

Who came up with this genius idea?

Martin Glinsky, Ph.D.,  that’s who!  Dr. Glinsky is considered one of the premier pet nutritionists in the country and is currently the Chief Science Officer at PetMatrix, creators of SmartBones and DreamBone chews.  He received his undergraduate education at Cornell University and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Illinois, specializing in Animal Nutrition and Nutritional Biochemistry.

He has lectured extensively around the world on pet nutrition and dietary formulation and started his own pet food manufacturing company in 1980, specializing in holistic and organic pet foods. His expertise in formulating, manufacturing, analyzing and testing of nutritional products for pets is well known and respected.

Dr. Glinsky formulated, engineered and produced the first dry pet foods to incorporate fresh ingredients, the standard of the holistic pet food category today. He has been intimately involved with many of the best-selling holistic foods brands being marketed around the world.

SmartBones are 99.2% digestible, which is higher than the digestibility of premium dog foods (85% digestibility).

Chicken, vegetables and other healthy ingredients dogs will love are used in making SmartBones.

SmartBones are the first treats of their kind to be enhanced with vitamins and minerals.

SmartBones are safer for dogs than regular rawhide treats, which may cause intestinal blockages.

SmartBones are environmentally friendly, whereas a toxic chemical process is needed to create consumable rawhide for treats.

SmartBones are available in Peanut Butter and Chicken Flavors.  There is also a Dental variety with additional teeth health benefits.

Four different sizes of SmartBones are available, based on a dog’s weight:

Small Dog (5-10 lbs) Mini SmartBones
Small – Medium Dogs (11-25 lbs) Small SmartBones
Medium Dogs (26-50 lbs) Medium SmartBones
Large Dogs (over 50 lbs) Large SmartBones

    • Hi Old Kitty!!! I sure do!!! Thank you for saying I am smart! Yes! I am quite smart, just like Charlie!

Barks and licks and love, Dakota

  2. Mama’s always looking for safer chewing options. While we leave most of the household items alone, we do have that need to chew and often are in trouble for eating things that are not considered safe.

    • Hi Bailey!

In my opinion it beats eating a cell phone anyday!

I sure get in my fair share of trouble for eating things “that are not considered safe”

If you get them let me know what you think!

Barks and licks and love, Dakota

  3. Well I have a smartphone in my pocket, a smartboard at school….I guess I need to get some smartbones!

    • BOL Sara!! You sure do!!!

Barks and licks and love, Dakota

  4. WOW – if I were a doggie, I think I’d love that thing too.

    • Mario I am sorry but that was funny! BOL!!

Barks and licks and love, Dakota

  5. Hey Dakota,

You sure looked like you were enjoying that!!

My Mum won’t let me have rawhide, so I think she HAS to get me some of these, especially as they’re healthy!! My tails wagging already and she hasn’t even ordered them yet!!

I’m wondering how long it took you to finish it?

Mum says she’s glad I’m not a slobber Dog as you’ve got me all excited now Dakota!

    Woohoo!!

    Have fun with your bone,

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂

    • Hi Snoopy!! I sure did!

Yes rawhide is bad for us!

You know what? I was speaking to the SmartBones man this morning and he is thinking of doing a give-away. I know you “liked” my Facebook page…keep watching cause I am thinking we might do it there because he didn’t tell me til after the blog posted….will let you know if that changes.

Mom said it took me maybe 15 minutes to finish it? Didn’t take me very long that is for sure! BOL!

      BOL about the “slobber” too!

Have a great day my friend!

Barks and licks and love, Dakota

      • Hey Dakota,

I was thinking I wasn’t very smart cos I missed that you had a competition to win some Smartbones! Now, I’m thinking I was just too early! Phew!

But you know what, I am smart, cos I’ve got friends like you who can get me the chance to win yummy stuff!! Nice job Dakota…..

Just make sure Cody doesn’t get anywhere near them in the meantime….. 🙂

        Hope you’re having fun,

        Your pal Snoopy 🙂

  6. Dakota, loved watching you enjoy your Smartbone! Especially loved the background music! Charlie was a smart dog last night, because he was alone for most of the day and even though his dad left the TV remote and his sandals within easy chewing reach, he didn’t resist to temptation and was a good boy all day. He deserves a Smartbone as a reward!

Have a great day Dakota and keep enjoying your Smartbones!

  7. Hi Debbie! So glad yo liked the video!

Wow my Mom and I are so impressed by Charlie! But, you made me look bad! BOL! I would have chewed that remote and sandals in shake of a tail! I am so impressed (and so is Mom) with Charlie’s self control!
Wow! He sure IS a smart boy!

You and Charlie have a great day too!
Barks and licks and love, Dakota

  8. Hi Dakota! Thanks for the giveaway!:) I would love to get my paws on these!! I have to chew on a bone as part of my bedtime ritual. On nights when Ma’s (unfortunately) run out of chews, I put up with it and just going to bed if I don’t find my chew. Ma’s always looking for new options for me, so this would be a great trial!

    Thank you!
    *bark bark*
    Nutmeg

    • Hi Nutmeg! Oh what a cute name that is! You are most welcome! Awww that is cute that you chew on a bone at bedtime. I should start doing that! ! Best of luck to you!! Barks and licks and love, Dakota

  9. You sure are a smart boy, Dakota! And you looked like you were really enjoying that Smartbone, I am positive my Maggie would love one of those, too. She is a smart girl & takes excellent care of her “parents” – when I have a migraine she doesn’t leave my side. Hopefully, she can win a Smartbone & enjoy it as much as you did!

    • Hi Aimee! Oh yes I totally LOVED that Smartbone! Hmmmm are you the same “maggie” that someone else just told me about? I have to delete multiple comments. Only one entry per person! I will check all of them. I wish you the best of luck and I am so happy that Maggie takes such excellent care of you! Barks and licks and love, Dakota

  10. My boy Maverick is very smart because when ever I correct the cats for being on the table he runs over and barks at them and they take off..they listen to him better than they do for me!

    • Hi Roberta! Do you know my Uncle has a nephew with a Shiba Inu that is named Maverick? That is such a great name for a doggie! I do the SAME thing with my kitty brother, (Cody) Is Maverick part Sheltie???? BOL! Barks and licks and love, Dakota

  11. Hi Dakota! My dogs are super smart because they were the best place to sleep is…in the king bed with Mom and Dad! Miller is a Golden Retriever and Iggy is a Potcake from the Turks and Caicos…we think they are pretty dang special and only give them good stuff and Smartbones would be much appreciated…so here’s a cyber Woof Woof shout out!

    • Hi Alice! Your doggies are lucky they get to sleep in the bed w/Mom & Dad. I’m not allowed to cause Mom has it baby gated so I won’t eat cat toys BOL. We love Golden Retrievers, I bet Miller is handsome! Mom and I are wondering what a “Potcake” is? We have never heard of that. We would love it if you wanted to post a photo of them on my Facebook page. (Everybody can do that too, we LOVE seeing everyone’s doggies!!) Good luck to you and everyone who is entering!

Barks and licks and love, Dakota

  12. Buddy is so smart he will find wait at the window for his brother to come home from school…he knows when it is time for him to arrive!!! So sweet to watch him waiting!

    • Hi Lori! My Mom just had a friend over this morning who also has a dog named Buddy!!! We like that name. He is very smart that he knows when his brother is coming home. You should post a picture of that on my Facebook Page. I would love to see it. Barks and licks and love, Dakota

  13. AJ would have devoured that bone in a night! My big boy deserves a smartbone for all the smart work he does! AJ works his tail off as a Personal Protection K9 right now but is learning to be a therapy dog on his days off. I’m very thankful to have a dog that can be with my at work as well as home!

    Licks and sniffs from AJ

    • Hi Hannah! Actually I ate mine within an hour so AJ will gobble it up too if he is one of the lucky winners! AJ’s resume is quite impressive! It is wonderful that he is doing so much good. I wish AJ and all of the doggies who are entering lots of luck with the contest! Barks and licks and love, Dakota

  14. Hi Dakota, my you’re handsome. I’m a JRT, my people call me Maggie. I would love to run in the park with you someday. I’m a Smart dog because I picked the right people when I was looking for my furever home. I knew the Mrs. would take good care of me and the Mr., well it was plain to see he was an easy touch and I could get anything I wanted. Sure I chewed a hole in the garage door when I was young but I didn’t have any SmartBones to keep me occupied, so it was their fault. And yeah, I chewed a hole in the bedroom wall, but what’s a girl to do all day when my people are at work earning money to buy me pretty things. Now I’m older and know what my people don’t want turned into a puzzle. Mom always tries to get me to not eat the rocks and sticks in the yard, but her methods aren’t working. If you could send her some SmartBones, she might get the hint and we’ll all be happier.

Have a grrrrrreat day Dakota ❤
    Maggie

    • Hi Maggie!! I would love to run in the park w/you too (especially cause you said I am handsome! BOL! Thank you!) Oh no you chewed a hole in the garage door? Boy am I ever impressed! You are even a better chewer than I am! You chewed the bedroom wall too? Wow!! You are like a shark! I try to eat rocks and sticks too, we sure are two of a kind aren’t we? I hope you and everyone who is entering has great luck with the contest!! Wish I could send SmartBones to everyone!! You have a great day too! Barks and licks and love, Dakota

  15. My Basset Barney is so smart.. he is only 5 1/2 years old, but has things all figured out… out to tear down the temporary fence to keep him out of mom’s garden, how to look at us with sad eyes to get a good treat… he would love smartbones since he doesn’t get rawhide… and it would keep him out of trouble for a while! 🙂

    • Barney does sound like a smart guy! Hey Barney! I have a doggie friend that lives across the hall named Barney! I love that name! I understand about wanting to be kept out of trouble cause I get in trouble myself sometimes!! Barks and licks and love, Dakota

  16. I own several doggies. Ducky is one of my faves though. She is a mix of jack russell and mini australian mix. Her father being the Mini Aussie, loves to chew on anything leather, especially high heels. So, when Ducky came along, I gave her chew toys from the get go. She is a smart one, as she knows not to chew on Mom’s high heels, and only her bones/chew toys. And, she will bark to let me know if one of the other dogs has her specific bone. Amazing how she knows which one is hers….and will bark until she gets the one that belong to her.

    Kay

    PS Dakota is gorgeous!

    • Hi Kay! It is Dakota’s Mom here! (he had to take a break lol) I LOVE the name of your dog (“Ducky”) and how smart she is!! Do you find that females are less destructive than the males? Dakota is our first Sheltie, the only other dog I had was a Boxer growing up. I have always owned cats. I loved your story!! Thank you for the kind comment about Dakota, we think so too! (wink) Thanks so much !!

  17. My Boston Terrier, Belle, is a smart dog. She tries to use the toilet if she can’t go outside.

    • BOL!!! Rita I would say that Belle sure is one smart doggie!!! I don’t even do that! Barks and licks and love, Dakota

  18. Nikki is smart because she always knows when I’m down and need cheering up. She is the most important being in my life!!

    • Hi Colleen, I would say that Nikki is quite smart!! Best of luck! Barks and licks and love, Dakota

  19. My Sprit is so smart that he chose me for an owner! Blows all of your dog’s intelligence out of the water 😉

    • Hi Kathy, well yes he is quite smart but we are all pretty darned smart too cause we ALL chose our Owners! BOL!!!! Good luck to you and everyone! Barks and licks and love, Dakota

  20. Hi Snoopy!

Yep you were too early my friend! Wasn’t your fault, Mom and I didn’t even know we were going to be doing a give-away! Then the nice man from SmartBones contacted us and wanted to have some doggies win some prizes! We are thrilled!

    Good luck to you!!

Barks and licks and love, your pal, Dakota

  21. Hi Everyone!

Thank you for subscribing to my bloggie! You are making my tail wag with happiness!

Barks and licks and love, Dakota

  22. I just wanted to tell you why my dog, Bailey is a smart dog! He loves to try to steal coffee, if our coffee cups are too low he will sneak a drink, if you are holding the cup, he will howl at you to get you to give him some, He loves to do tricks in order to get treats!!

    • Hi Kat!! Bailey drinks coffee??!!! He must be SUPER HIGH ENERGY BOL!!!! Actually coffee isn’t good for doggies but I know you probably already know that. He is super smart though…just keep him away from Starbucks!!! Barks and licks and love, Dakota

  23. my dog elvis is a beagle mix who loves to chew but what special about him he will sit up just like a human and give his sad eyes to go out he wont bark just look at u real sad like to say what are you waiting for im ready to go out now

    • Hi Florence! Your Elvis sounds like a very smart doggie! I bet you give in with those “sad eyes”…also…since his name is Elvis he MUST be KING!!!!

Barks and licks and love, Dakota

  24. Max is so smart, he won’t come to anyone but me. He will stand there and bark at them, though.

    • Hi Carla! I like Max’s style!! I am pretty much the same! We just have to check them out from a safe distance first and “when in doubt….BARK!!”

Barks and licks and love, Dakota

  25. Wow Dakota – you and your Mom sure are smart – so much great information rolled up into one yummy, tasty chew bone!! What a lucky dog you are!! Hope you are doing good – it’s been awhile since we’ve been by to say hello!

    xoxo

    • Hi Deb and Gang!!

Thank you so much!! I AM a lucky doggie!! I am doing good but Mom is a little under the weather.

She says she has “SIGN-US” trouble and is exhausted (whatever THAT means! BOL!!)

Thank you for visiting us and barks and licks and love to your babies!

  26. Love Smartbones! My dog Quinn is the smartest dog because when we bring her to obedience training she catches on so quickly!

    • Hi Denise! Your Quinn IS smart! I am an obedience school drop out!!! BOL!

  27. Hi Lori, I’m already looking around the house for a place to hide my Smartbone. If I look sad and pathetic enough my sister Daisy shares hers with me cause she thinks I didn’t get one.

  30. I have a toy chihuahua named Blondie, she is very smart for her size. Considering she is the smallest of all our animals. She is our little shadow and has the cutest little yelping bark when she wants something! Luv Natalie and Blondie

    • Hi Natalie! Awww the name Blondie is so cute for a Chihuahua!! We have a Chihuahua that lives across the hall named Chico, he actually sounds like he is LAUGHING when he barks!

Barks and licks and love, Dakota

  31. Sorry Dakota my friend Lori walked through the room while I was typing your message sometimes I get confused and type what I’m barking out loud at the same time. Speaking of typing my mom just had my nails trimmed I really find if difficult to type now do you have this problem?

  32. aw Dakota what a greta write up! If I was a doggie I would definitly love to try smart bones. They sound very well made.

  33. My dog, Peanut, knows the sound of my car and goes crazy as soon as I pull into my parking space:) He is an adorable mini dachsund and everyone in our apartment complex loves him. He is so smart, if you hide his ball he will go crazy until he finds it. If he does something wrong, he will actually try to cover it up so I dont see it! I came home to vomit that he had covered up with a shopping bag cuz he thought he had done something bad, poor puppy doesnt realize I would never be upset with him for getting sick.

    • Sandra Hi! Your dog Peanut sounds adorable! The story of the paper bag was just too cute!
