Dog Wants a Kitty-HILARIOUS new video from Pets Add Life (PAL)

Hi everyone!

Well, if I  were living with Mom and Dad first, then I might have acted like this when they brought Cody home. But….Cody was living with them first!

Founded by the American Pet Products Association (APPA), the PAL campaign is designed to demonstrate the joys and benefits of responsible pet ownership and encourage increased animal adoption.

Visit PAL online at https://www.facebook.com/PetsAddLife or http://petsaddlife.org/.

As for me? I have a kitty brother and couldn’t be happier!! Pets DO “add life!”

I’ve been “Limericked” by OZ!!

My buddy Oz The Terrier is a regular wordsmith!

All of the blogging doggies LOVE his way with words and his limericks and we always tell him so! Because we love them so much, Oz gave us all the chance to be “limericked!!” yeah I made that word up!! Guess what? I decided to “bite” and have him do one for me. Wait til you read mine! Oh my DOG did my Mom and I bark out loud about THIS ONE!!

There once was a Sheepdog in the Hills
who swore he was a dog of no frills.
I tell you it’s true,
ask “what do gentlemen do?”
and then watch as he sits real stills.

This video was the inspiration for the above limerick:

Thanks Oz!!

That was great!!

Barks and licks and love, Dakota

Fun Friday! Puppy Parcel from Five Wags! Enter to Win!

It’s finally time!! The long-awaited give-away from our furiends at Five Wags has arrived! First, I would like to thank Reed for his patience with my having misplaced the information telling me who is eligible to win and what they could win!

A few weeks ago Reed contacted me asking if I would be interested in receiving a Puppy Parcel from Five Wags. I was intrigued and jumped on the opportunity.

What is a Puppy Parcel?

From Five Wags:

The Puppy Parcel is filled with premium dog products hand-selected to match your pup’s personality and interests. Each month, we search for toys and treats for your pup, some classics and some unexpected, always selected to delight your dog and create endless wags!

Because every dog is different and special, in order to determine what types of goodies should be included in your dog’s box, Five Wags offers the Puppy Profile Quiz . I filled out the quiz for Dakota and it couldn’t have been easier!

After you complete the Puppy Profile Quiz  you join by signing up for their monthly membership, and within a week you will receive your first Puppy Parcel delivered right to your doorstep! As long as your membership is active, you will receive a new and fun Puppy Parcel every month! How cool is that?

Here  are examples of their sample boxes. Dakota received a mixture of two different boxes, based on his interests.

They are packaged sooo cute aren’t they? Here is a photo of the products that Dakota received and I will tell you what our favorites were!

One item that I received for Dakota that I LOVED was the lavender-scented outdoor refresher spray, Pal Dog Freshen Up Spray for active outdoor dogs. It is meant to use on your dog to “refresh” he or she after playing or hiking outside. What I used it for was the mess that Dakota gets on his mane after devouring some of  his favorite bones! I just sprayed it on the brush and brushed his mane and it not only removed the stickiness, but he smelled delightful!

Some of Dakota’s favorite items in the Puppy Parcel were:

Angry Birds Wobbly Ball by Griggles. It wobbles and jiggles and is so much fun! We like to put a treat in ours as an extra challenge. Check out Dakota using it!

Fruitables Crunchy Dog Treats were also in the box, they smell good enough to eat! Dakota loves them and what I love is they are small enough to fit in a variety of toys that he has that dispense treats.

Another fave was Louie the Lobster by Jax and Bones. I was super impressed with how well made and durable this toy is! It is NOT flimsy! It is hand braided, lasts long (ours is still fine and Dakota is a major chewer!). It is soft enough to play fetch indoors and it is sooo cute!

Here are some super short videos of Dakota playing with Louie! In the first video I LOVE how Dakota shakes his head like a horse.

Here is another video of Dakota and Louie the Lobster, even after chewing Louie’s lobster claw it is STILL in tact!

Dakota and I were super pleased with the process of registering for our review box, the ease of taking the quiz, the  speed of delivery, the appearance of the box and the quality of the products. This would also make a great Gotcha Day, Birthday or anytime gift for your dog or the special doggies in your life!

Guess what? Reed is offering ONE lucky person  WHO LIVES IN THE U.S. a TWO MONTH subscription to the Puppy Parcel!! Do you believe it??? That is incredibly generous!

HOW TO ENTER:

MANDATORY: 1) Leave a comment telling me what your favorite item is that Dakota received

2) Like Five Wags on Facebook for an extra entry!

3)  Like Dakota’s Den on Facebook for yet another extra entry!

THIS IS A QUICK GIVE-AWAY! DEADLINE TO ENTER IS MONDAY JANUARY 28th at 5pm ET. Winner will be chosen by http://www.random.org and will be announced WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 30th.

In full disclosure: I was not compensated for this review/give-away. I was sent a Puppy Parcel for one month. All opinions are my own.

Strike a Pose! My Photo Shoot!

Hi every doggy!!!

Boy oh boy I thought my Mom would NEVER get her act together and let me get on the computer! She is so stuffed from gorging on turkey and desserts from Thanksgiving that it took til NOW for her to get her act together!

Anyway, I have a super cool update for you!

Remember a few weeks ago when I featured Northern Lights Photography on my blog and I mentioned that I was going for a photo shoot? Well, I went and the photos are back!! Ohhhh my does my Mom ever love them!

I am going to show you a few of our faves. The color may have been altered on a few because Moms’ scanner on the printer isn’t working, so Mom took photos of the photos and she brightened them up a bit to make them look more like the originals. Trust me, the originals look a zillion times better in pawson!

Mom was going to use the above  photo for our holiday card but decided against it because my kitty brother, Cody, wasn’t in the photo. Mom had thought about bringing him but she was nervous about how Cody would react. Mom thought there would be lots of doggies and kitties there that might make Cody nervous, or that he would be “spooked” being in a strange room with a camera so Mom let Cody enjoy the peace and quiet of home. Mom says she might ask Sheri if she could come to the house one day so that we could all have our photo taken!

Mom was so impressed with Sheri and her assistant. They couldn’t have been nicer!

At first, I was a bit leery because the photos were taken in the back room at a local Pet Supplies Plus store.

For the autumn leaves photo, they wanted to put me on a table but I didn’t want ANY part of that! That was too much like the V-E-T for me!

Sheri and her assistant had many tricks up their sleeves to help me get into the “mood.” They had toys that quacked, squeaked, and an assortment of treats. They were fun, gentle, understanding and kind. Soon I realized that this was FUN and I was all about the camera!

When I was done with my photo shoot Mom was sooo proud of me!! She said I was a complete gentleman and….she also said ( Easy this one is for you) that I am a:

Dog Welcomes Her Soldier “Daddy” Home

This video is just too wonderful.  I found this on the Petcentric website hosted by Purina!

From Petcentric: ”Gracie obviously missed her owner as much as he missed her. You can hear her whimpering as she licks his face and climbs into his lap, while he confesses, “I missed you so bad…I’m sorry I went away.”

The “Ass” Award-Silly Saturday

OMD I am totally embarrassed!!! In case you haven’t picked up on it already,  my Mom is INSANE, COMPLETELY CERTIFIABLE. Frankly, she shouldn’t be walking the streets unattended. Now…she is using MY BLOG as a vehicle for her insanity! What am I to do?

A few days ago Mom was reading our friends, Mollie and Alfie’s blog and was told that she was given an award (the award I am talking about will be featured on another day). What catches Mom’s eye? A different award that really isn’t an award, it’s a JOKE. But don’t tell Mom that. Mom was eyeing it longingly and being the demented person that she is, felt that she MUST have it! So, she told Mollie and Alfie’s Mom, who of course said “take it because you ARE one!” She really didn’t say that but I can bet she was thinking it, how could she NOT think it when you see what Mom has posted below?

The award that Mom was  longing for wasn’t a Pettie, or a Nose-to-Nose award…nope, those are WAY too normal and prestigious for her. THIS IS THE AWARD that my mentally challenged Mom wanted:

Click on the image to visit Mollie and Alfie!!

If wanting that award wasn’t bad enough. Mom had a REASON for wanting it! Approximately 3 years ago Mom filmed this INCREDIBLY EMBARRASSING VIDEO! (Please ignore how our home looked at the time. We have redone the floors, painted and got a new TV and new furniture, so our old place looks REALLY BAD in this video!) But…our condo isn’t what is so embarrassing…watch and you will see…

See what I mean? Soooo in my opinion just because I like to sniff butt, that doesn’t make me an “ASS!” My Mom is the “ASS” for filming it and deriving such great enjoyment out of it!!!

I am tellin’ ya this woman is impossible to live with! My heart goes out to Dad…HE married her!

Hanging my head in embarrassment,

Workin’ Hard At Creating Mischief On Labor Day!

Did you know that Shetland Sheepdogs are considered to be working dogs?   From Wikipedia: “They are vocal, excitable, energetic dogs who are always willing to please and work hard. They are partly derived from dogs used in the Shetland Isles for herding and protecting sheep. The breed was formally recognized by the Kennel Club in 1909.”

Well, I don’t have any sheep to herd or protect, and with this being Labor Day in America, I had to find SOMETHING to work hard at!  Does causing mischief qualify as hard work?

To those in the U.S., HAPPY LABOR DAY! To everyone else, HAPPY MISCHIEF MONDAY!!

“Yappy” National Dog Day!!

Since Mom was late on getting a post together for National Dog Day, here is a video she found from 2011….

In honor of National Dog Day, Mom and I have installed PetFinder widgets on our side bar, that way, people can search for adoptable dogs ANY day of the year!

Want some ideas about how YOU can help?
